About
The Problem
Contractors, mechanics, plumbers, and HVAC technicians know exactly what a job should cost. Their customers don't. That information gap gets exploited every day — not always maliciously, but consistently. A quote that sounds reasonable has nowhere to be checked against. Most people either accept it or spend an hour Googling and still aren't sure.
What This Tool Does
Did I Overpay? gives you an instant fair market range for any service — based on regional pricing data, not guesswork. Enter a service, an optional price, and your location. Get back a range and a verdict: good deal, slightly high, overpriced, or suspiciously low.
Estimates are generated by AI models trained on broad pricing data and calibrated against regional cost-of-living and labor market signals. No account needed. No data sold. The tool is and will remain free for consumers.
What We Collect
We store the service category, price range, and general location of each search to improve future estimates. We do not collect names, emails, IP addresses tied to identities, or any personally identifiable information during standard use. Every search is anonymous.
Who Built This
A two-person team. We got overcharged for a car repair and wanted a better way to check. The tool we wished existed didn't, so we built it.
